  5. A piece of string walked into a bar and asked for a pint. The barman said

  7. "You're a piece of string, aren't you?"
  8. "Yes, I am" replied the string.
  9. "I'm afraid we don't serve string. You'll have to leave" The string left.
  10.  
  11. A little while later, another piece of string entered the bar, and ordered a pub
  12. lunch.  The barman looked up.
  13.  
  14. "I'm sorry, we can't sell to string. Please leave the pub."
  15.  
  16. That evening a third piece of string walked in.
  17.  
  18. "You're a piece of string, aren't you?"
  19.  
  20. At  this,  the  piece  of  string dropped to the floor of the pub, rolled on the
  21. carpet, and screwed itself up and twisted itself around.

  23. "You're a piece of string aren't you?"
  24. "No I'm afraid not."
